When the children move from year 2 to year 3, from the KS1 building to the KS2 building, some children think they will find the change quite daunting and difficult. All the staff in lower key stage two work hard to ensure the children enjoy the transition and settle in quickly to their new routine. Throughout year 3 and 4 we encourage the children to become more independent and enjoy taking on responsibilities.
This year, across school, we started to use the Class Dojo system to reward the children and they thoroughly love this way of gaining points for demonstrating their class values. To ensure continuity some of the class values are the same across year 3 and 4 but the class teacher adds skills that are relevant to their class.
Everyone should enjoy being at school and we try hard to make sure this is the case and that the children have fun whilst learning and being involved in school life. It is really important to us that they thoroughly enjoy their time in year 3 and 4 and are ready as individuals to move on to upper key stage two.
